Everyone Needs a Little Vintage in Their Life

I'm so happy I could cry. Seriously. Yesterday, I paid my Mimi (grandmother) a visit since I haven't seen her in a while. I love going over her house. It's always filled with amazing home cooked food, laughter and vintage fashion. As she greeted me with fresh squeezed orange juice (AMAZE)..she told me she had some boots she wanted to give me. So we went up to her closet and she took out a pair of amazing whiskey colored Frye boots from 1975! They have gorgeous stitching going up the entire boot. I can't wait to wear these!
We then went through all of her amazing clothes she used to wear from the 70's through the 90's. She had 3 gorgeous beaded dresses left (she gave the rest away), some harem pants, and some oversized blazers. Of course I was drawn to the blazers. Before I knew it, she was telling me to take them because she never wore them anymore. After getting mad at her for not wearing these beautiful blazers anymore, I finally gave in and took them. They're Ralph Lauren (left) and Lands End (right).
Next, she pulled out her handbag collection. Every time my Popsi (grandfather) would go away for work, he would always bring her back a beautiful evening bag. She has about 20 of them. I was immediately taken back by the beautiful beaded handbag shown above. The beading in it is so exquisite and intricate. It was hand made in India.
My Mimi is truly a beautiful, stylish and inspiring woman, whom I truly look up to as a role model. She is incredibly strong and one

For Those Cold City Nights...

I've been wearing the same winter coat for about 3 years now, so I thought it would be time for me to say goodbye...for now. While on the hunt, I stumbled upon these two at, believe it or not..Forever 21. I've been super impressed with them lately. Along with my new coats, I also purchased a pair of $9.80 high waisted jeans (I LOVE DEALS), a cream cropped sweater, and a new pair of super cute buckled ankle boots. More about the coats! I fell in mad love with both of them and couldn't decide between them, so I ended up taking both of these puppies home with me. The shearling jacket is so incredibly warm. It's like one big fur ball inside. Hopefully, both of these coats will make the NYC winter weather a little more bearable!

She no saint, c'ept Saint Laurent

Say hello to my new babies! I've needed a new wallet for a while, since my $10.00 wallet from Target broke about 3 months ago. Since then, I've been using a little Pucci card holder that my aunt got me around 5 years ago. Not a very sufficient wallet as you might have guessed, especially since I almost lost it New Years Eve. I blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol baby, 5 degree weather and the tears that were streaming down my face from the fact I couldn't feel my body. ANYWAY.  When my dad asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I was about to give him the good old, "I don't really need anything, so just money," when I stumbled upon the Yves Saint Laurent beauty. I wanted a wallet that was going to last me a very long time, and I immediately fell in deep love with this wallet. Many people (my father and brother...typical) did not understand my deep love and excitement for this wallet, because of it's simplicity. But, that is what makes me love it so much. I'm going to be able to wear it for forever. It will never go out of style. It is a beautiful, timeless piece that was well worth the investment.

Now onto those babe-like Ray Bans. I've also needed new sunglasses for about the last year. I normally would stray away from expensive sunglasses considering I know my clumsy self would probably break them in a matter of two days. However, I decided that this would be a test for myself to see if I could be an adult for five minutes and handle a pair of expensive sunglasses. I've been doing pretty well so far! No scratches or finger prints. I also put them back in their case every time after using them. We'll see how long this lasts.

I'm in a New York State of Mind

If you know me, you know that it has always been a dream of mind to live in New York City. It is filled with opportunity, energy, inspiration...EVERYTHING. On August 31, 2013, that dream of mine became a reality.

Many people have expressed concerns to me about living in the city and not having a "typical college experience." To be honest, I've never been attracted to living on a college campus and having a typical college experience. There has never really been any other option for me other than living in the city when I graduated high school. And so far, I am loving my life more than I ever have. I am surrounded by some of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. I have never felt more inspired to work hard and start working towards becoming successful. Most of all, I have never felt more like myself. Back in New Jersey, I always had reservations for some reason about expressing a lot of things- emotions, opinions, etc. While New York City is one of the most intimidating places, it is also one of the most amazing and freeing places. When I step out of my building onto the streets on Manhattan every single day, I can't help but think of how incredibly blessed and lucky I am to be here. It still does not seem real.

I also love all of my professors so far. They all seem incredibly intelligent, knowledgable and eager to help their students in any way they can.

So, over all, I just feel extremely blessed to be living out my dream at 19 years old. It usually takes most people a lot longer for their dreams to come true and to find the happiness that I'm feeling right now. I am excited to see what the future holds for me!

Jason Wu Fall 2013

photos via style.com

I mean...if this isn't perfection..then I don't know what is. Jason Wu never fails to impress me. With a black and white color palette with pops of color here and there, this was Wu's most feminine collection to date. But, it was also one of his sexiest collections (other than his Spring 2013) with hints of sheer panels and skirts, fur and sexy clinched waists. Look at those amazing evenings gowns...everything looks delicious.

BCBGMaxAzria FWRTW '13

photos via style.com

There is so much to say about this collection! What a complete 180 from their spring '13 collection! Instead of lace and leather harnesses, it was time for grunge to step into the spotlight! Beanies and oversized silhouettes were all of the rage here. Silky slips were the foundation of every look, paired with t-shirts, boxy leather jackets and jacquard hoodies.
This is definitely a different look than we're used to seeing with the typical BCBG woman. It's more of a street-style, urban version of the typical soft BCBG woman...and I am loving every single minute of it!

Best of: Golden Globes 2013

One of the biggest nights in Hollywood was just a couple of nights ago...the Golden Globes. Of course while I love watching the actual award show, I love watching the red carpet to see the amazing fashion! While there were many beautiful dresses, these were some of my absolute favorites!

The biggest trend of the night was winter white! Francesca Eastwood, Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway and Lea Michele all looked absolutely beautiful and radiant in their gorgeous white gowns! Red and plum was also huge! Even though Jennifer Lawrence's dress caused some controversy, I thought she looked like an perfect 1940's Dior girl. Claire Danes looked H.O.T. in that beautiful red dress after just having a baby a month ago! A MONTH. Many of you who know me well are probably surprised that I included Taylor Swift in my best dressed list, as she is not my favorite person in the world. BUT, I have to say that her Donna Karen gown was amaze-balls. Naomi Watts looked like an Old Hollywood beauty in her gorgeous wine colored gown! It was perfect. Hayden Panettiere probably looked the best I have ever seen her in her gorgeous Cavalli mermaid style gown. Kate Hudson looked ah-maz-ing in Alexander McQueen. The embellishment around the neck is stunning. And the most shocking of the night? Katherine McPhee in her edgy Theyskens Theory dress. She looked incredibly sexy but very classy at the same time. The top-knot definitely pulled this look together. If her hair was styled any other way, this dress would not have worked. She looked like absolute perfection!

One reason award season is my favorite time of the year is because I can draw some inspiration for my prom dress! I am definitely getting some great ideas for a look I want to go for.. and hopefully my fellow ladies will also get some ideas from this post! Of course there is more inspiration to come from the SAG Awards and the Oscars! So excited!
